Using the Navigation & Chart Controls Menu
Symbolik provides two ways to navigate and control your charts: the Chart Controls menu in the lower left corner and the compact on-chart Controls Panel. These tools allow you to pan, zoom, jump through time, reset your view, and quickly return to the current bar.
The image below shows how opening Chart Controls reveals a smaller Controls Panel directly on the chart:
Navigation
The Navigation option in the lower left corner opens a full list of available navigation tools. From here you can:
Pan & Scale
- Pan up / Pan down – Move the chart vertically.
- Expand scale / Compress scale – Adjust vertical scaling of price bars.
Scroll Through Time
- Page forward / Page back – Move the chart one full screen at a time.
- Jump forward / Jump back – Larger jumps through price history.
- Step forward / Step back – Move one bar at a time.
Zooming
- Zoom in / Zoom out – Increase or decrease horizontal zoom.
Reset & Re-Center
- Reset y-axis – Snap the price scale back to automatic mode.
- Jump to current bar – Instantly return to the most recent bar.
- Reset chart – Restores the default zoom, position, and scaling.
Note that the reset options also show the keyboard shortcuts to accomplish the same task.
On-Chart Controls Panel
The top option from the Navigation menu opens a compact Controls Panel on the chart. This popup contains quick-access navigation icons for:
- Panning left/right
- Zooming in/out
- Jumping forward/back
- Stepping bar-by-bar
- Resetting the x and y axis.
This panel allows you to make rapid adjustments without returning to the sidebar menu.
Why Two Navigation Menus?
Both tools serve different use cases:
- Main Navigation Menu: Full command list, helpful for learning controls and understanding available actions. Reset Chart Axis options.
- Controls Panel (on chart): Fast, in-context navigation while analyzing price action.
