You can create visual and audible market alerts in Symbolik to notify you when a particular ticker symbol meets your specified criteria. There are 2 types of alerts you can create within Symbolik: Price Alerts and Condition Alerts. Price alerts are triggered when an asset's price is greater than or less than a certain value. For example, you can set a Price alert to identify when the price of Apple drops below $270 or rises above $330. Condition Alerts are more complex and are triggered when a specific condition, or set of conditions, is met. For instance, a condition alert might be set to trigger when a 50-day moving average crosses above the 200-day moving average.
To access the Alerts Menu and view all of your custom alerts, click on the Alerts clock icon on the right-hand sidebar.
Alerts are only available with the Symbolik Advanced service plan.
How to Create an Alert
Click on the “+” symbol on the top right of the Alerts menu and then choose either "New Price Alert" or "New Condition Alert".
Price Alerts
If you choose "New Price Alert", a new window will appear allowing you to specify the name of your price alert along with the Symbol ticker and price levels. You can choose to enter in a level for either the "Price Above" option, the "Price Below" option, or both options simultaneously. After you have specified your criteria, click on "Save".
Note: when entering in your Symbol, it is important to select the correct exchange as this will affect whether the price data is real-time or delayed. Click HERE for further information on real-time data.
Condition Alerts
If you choose "New Condition Alert", a new window will appear allowing you to specify the name of your condition alert along with the symbol ticker, the time interval, and the custom Condition you have created. If you have not already created a custom condition, you can do so by clicking on the "Select Condition" and choosing "Create New Condition". After you have specified your criteria, click on "Save".
How to Enable Alerts
All newly created alerts will be disabled by default. To enable an alert, go to the Alerts Menu and click the toggle button to the On position. When the toggle button is on, the alert is active and will be triggered when the alert's criteria has been met.
After the alert has been triggered and you receive an audible and visual notification, the alert will disable itself and the toggle button will switch to the Off position.
Alert Notifications
When an alert's criteria has been met, you will receive an audible notification and a visual banner will display at the top of your screen with the specific alert that was triggered. You can click on "View" from the banner notification and it will update your chart with the alert's ticker symbol.
You can view a historical list of all your previous alert notifications by clicking on the bell icon on the right-hand sidebar which will open the Notifications center.
You also have the option to send alert notifications to your email address or your phone via SMS text messaging. You can enable these features by clicking on the account profile icon on the top right and then select "Settings". Click on the "Notifications" tab and you can choose your method of notification.
