Scans help you identify when specific market conditions—based on your custom criteria—are happening now or have occurred recently. You can run scans across major indices like the S&P 500, Nasdaq 100, and Russell 2000, or apply them to your own custom portfolios.
To view and manage your scans, click the Scans icon on the right-hand sidebar.

How to Create a Scan
- Click on the “+” symbol on the top right of the Scans menu.
-
After clicking on “+”, a window titled “New Scan” will appear. Here you can assign a custom name for your custom Scan. The “New Scan” window comprises a Stages tab and a Details tab.
-
Within the Stages tab, you can specify your criteria which include the followings parameters:
- Portfolio: you can choose a built-in system portfolio (such as the S&P 500 or the Russell 2000) or a custom portfolio you have already created. Click HERE to learn how to build a custom portfolio.
- Interval: the time interval you want to run the scan on.
- Condition: in order to run a Scan, you first need to create a custom condition with the specific event or occurrence you wish to screen for. Click HERE for further information on building custom conditions.
- Bar Range: the possible range of price bars where the condition's parameters were met.
- You have the option to add multiple stages to your criteria. Additional stages allows for scanning multiple Conditions, Intervals, Portfolios and Bar Ranges during a single run. Click the "+ Add Stage" option to display a new set of scan criteria. You can use the same criteria and change the portfolio to scan for a condition for multiple portfolios. You also can have multiple stages, scanning the same portfolio on the same Interval for multiple conditions. Running the scan will analyze all stages and return the tickers that meet the criteria for the stage(s) in which they are included. You can also choose Stage 1 Passes or Fails to perform Filtered Scans.
- Within the Details tab, you can create a custom schedule to automatically run your scan. Check the box next to "Schedule 1" and you can specify the days and time you wish to have it run. Click on the "Add Schedule" to enable additional schedules.
- After you have specified your all your criteria, you can click on "Save" on the bottom right and your custom Scan will now be stored in the Scans Menu.
How to Run a Scan

Or you can click on the scan and click on the "Run Scan" button at the bottom of the panel. A banner will notify you once the scan is complete and you can then view the results.

Click the ellipses menu from a scheduled scan to run now, remove from schedule or edit the scan.
Saving Scan Results as a Portfolio
With the new feature, you now have the ability to save your scan results as a portfolio, making it easier to access and review them at any time. This portfolio feature allows you to organize and store important scan results in one convenient location, ensuring that you can quickly refer back to them when needed. Whether you need to track historical scans, compare results over time, or simply keep a record for future reference, the portfolio provides an efficient and organized way to manage your scan data.
Filtered Scans
The Filtered Scans feature allows you to refine your scan results by applying multiple filters in stages. Each stage takes the positive (or negative) results from the previous one and applies an additional layer of filtering, helping you narrow down results more effectively.
Key Use Cases
-
Combining Study Criteria:
If you want to find symbols that meet two different study conditions, you can set the first stage to scan for one condition and the next stage to apply the second. This ensures that only symbols meeting both criteria are included in the final results. -
Scanning Across Multiple Time Intervals:
Filtered Scans also allow you to work across different timeframes. For example, you can scan for symbols that meet a specific condition on a daily interval, and then further filter those results based on weekly data. This is especially useful for identifying patterns that align across timeframes.
Benefits
- Enables more precise and targeted results
- Simplifies complex filtering workflows
- Reduces noise by excluding irrelevant data
- Supports advanced strategies such as multi-indicator and multi-timeframe analysis
Filtered Scans provide a flexible and powerful way to fine-tune your scans and focus on the data that matters most to your strategy.
